National STEM Day will be held at the Quincie Douglas Library in Tucson, AZ.

1:00-2:30-Science learn about animal habitats for K-5th grades.
2:30-4:00 p.m.-Middle & high schoolers learn to build a rover and build with straws & connectors.

Des Moines University-DMU will sponsor a Black History Month Tour around the city of Des Moines, Iowa during February 9-25, 2019. DMU guest speakers & African American medical students will be featured at each site. Multicultural Educational Programs-MEP will provide the hands on learning component with several exhibit posters of doctors and scientist for youth to learn more about medicine and science opportunities. We look forward to seeing you there!

Goals of the DMU Tour:
- The opportunity to learn about medical and health sciences careers and other upcoming programs focused on minority empowerment.
- Provide a safe and welcoming environment for families and youth to ask questions of DMU students, faculty and staff to learn more about what young students should be doing now to prepare for these careers, etc.
- Provide our students, faculty and staff a way to directly engage with families/youth in their respective community spaces-and continue to build positive relationships.
- Have fun, play trivia, win prizes and enjoy light snacks and refreshments.
